Research

We were looking for reference images with a lot of warmth and homyness to match the relaxing game we were trying to make.

Enviroment art

At the top are two initial environemtn sketches to establish the tone we were going for and to begin working out the art style. At first I was primarily influenced by tarot cards but as they became less and less important on the game play side, I turned to Dr Seuss and the TV show Hilda as primary influences instead.

The two main challenges I had were making sure the environment blends in with the main character and making sure that my envirnoments can work with paralax scrolling.
